Plot Summary

Publisher Richard Sherman has been married for seven years. His wife and son once again go out of town for the holidays. Long lasting loneliness, Richard, suddenly drops on his balcony with a huge pot of tomato, and guilt that a neighbor from the upper floor, blond advertising model. Richard offers beauty to go to his house and get something to drink. Gorgeous blonde in a deep neckline, not allowing the neighbor to recover, appears at his apartment with a bottle of champagne in hand... From this moment the imagination of the hero draws not only a fabulous picture of the conquest of the heart a seductive beauty, but also humiliating scenes expose his wife's infidelity

The famous episode in which a sudden gust of air from the ventilation hatch vzletaet up skirt Marilyn Monroe, were filmed primarily in Manhattan, on the corner of 52nd street and Lexington Avenue, on September 15, 1954 in the morning. 5000 onlookers whistled and hooted when Monroe once tore the brace, forgetting words. All this happened in front of Joe Di Maggio, the then husband of the actress. The footage never appeared in the movie because it was impossible to use because of the noise of the crowd. The film's Director Billy Wilder reshot the scene in the pavilion Studio 20th Century Fox. To achieve the desired result, he had to do 40 takes.

During filming, Monroe was often mistaken, confused and forgot words because of what I had to do a few dozen takes. As a result, the film was delayed and its budget ballooned to $3.2 million, quite a large sum for that time.

Seeing the screen tests of Walter Matthau in the role of Richard Sherman, Billy Wilder realized that he had found the right actor for him. However, Studio executives did not want to risk inviting the lead role debutant. And then Wilder opted on the Volume Yelle, who played Sherman in the Broadway production of the play by George Axelrod, laid the basis for the film.

The film rights to the play were purchased by Paramount, but after the Studio went Billy Wilder, the project was at 20th Century Fox.

The first Director, who was asked to remove the tape was George cukor (Gaslight, "let's make love", "the Philadelphia story", "My fair lady"). But he abandoned this project.

During filming, Monroe suffered from depression since her nine-month marriage to baseball player Joe DiMaggio came to an end.
