Plot Summary
Did You Know?
The cartoon is based on the eponymous tale by Charles Perrault.
This is the sixteenth animated feature by Walt Disney.
In 1938, Walt Disney decided to create an animation film based on the tale by Charles Perrault "the Sleeping beauty", but with the advent of the Second world war and the financial problems of the Studio, disney had fully to go shooting educational and military films and short films and the "batch" of cartoons ("make mine music", "Time tunes", "Happy and carefree", etc.).
With the actors voicing the main roles, Walt Disney basically did not meet and did not give them any guidance. Mary Costa (Princess Aurora) started his musical career at the age of nine years. Soon her dream was to see Walt Disney and to work with him. The next day, after listening in the Studio, she was notified that got the job. But every time she was done, asked about the guidance of Walt, she did not commit. He didn't meet her until the end of the picture, because he was afraid to affect her personality, only three years later they had their first Breakfast together.
Sleeping beauty was the last film in the technique of hand-drawn animation.
The famous waltz of Aurora and Phillip were used in the 1991 animated film Disney's "beauty and the Beast".
