Provided by a couple from Warsaw Andrzej and Kristina on the way to the Masurian lakes, where they are going to spend the weekend, pick up a young hitchhiker. The owner of the yacht invites him to spend the day on the lakes. Andrzej tries to use any opportunity and any excuse to show his superiority, experience and maturity. The tension increases, reaches a physical collision.

The yacht that starred in the film, formerly belonged to Goering. During the Second world war it was flooded on the Masurian lakes, but then raised from the bottom and restored. Her real name is "the Wrekin" which means "shark".
Zygmunt Malanowicz, the actor who plays the role of a young Man, dark haired, so the role of hair had paint in white.
Initially, Polanski was seen as a performer of the role of the young Man his co-author Jerzy Skolimowski, who graduated at that time acting school, but the idea had to be abandoned in favor of a professional actor Zygmunt Mulanovich.

In the scene when the Boy gets on the boat, after Christina left alone, Amateur actress Jolanta Umecka could not reliably react to the sudden appearance of the young Man. So one of the assistants of the Director in the secret of the actress shot in the right moment blank cartridge over the ear of Jolanta. This one and made it into the film.
