In the opinion of Frankenheimer, "Seven days in may" is his best film in his career.
After reading the novel, Frankenheimer understood that it is his theme. "It was supposed to be movie to enjoy which you don't have to understand the whole system of American politics," he said.
The levers of production of the picture launched the actor kirk Douglas, who performed the main role of Colonel Casey. Douglas owned a production company, Joel Productions, who put up half the cost for the purchase of the rights to the film adaptation of the book, and the second half added the Director Frankenheimer.
