Len Deighton, author of "the Ipcress file", in addition to writing spy novels, was seriously interested in cooking. He even had his own column in The Observer devoted to the culinary arts. Clippings from these headings can be seen in the film they adorn the walls of the kitchen, Harry Palmer.
Initially the role of Harry Palmer was planned to invite Christopher Plummer, but he had already signed a contract for shooting the movie "the Sound of Music", and on the role of Jean at first wanted to invite Joan Collins.
On the first day of filming the Director Sidney fury gathered in the Studio the entire crew and burned the script. "Now that I think about it," said he stunned colleagues. Had to rewrite everything.
Palmer, the first hero of a spy movie that wears glasses (Michael Caine actually short-sighted and in daily life wearing glasses).
Model glasses Harry Palmer was the name of Teviot 74. It was inexpensive and at the same time very elegant sunglasses dark brown frames. The same wore at the time he and Len Deighton.
