Adventurer Alan Forrest, passed in the Palace of the Raja of Calcutta, having lost that poker. To return a gambling debt, Raj offers its guests to steal a huge diamond "Mountain of Light" built into the Buddha statue in one of the temples. Alan proudly refused this proposal and in the night fled from the Palace. However, the incredible diamond is firmly entrenched in his mind. Foster goes to the temple, on the way encountering dodgy fakir Sitamu who joins his makeshift expedition. However, the white adventurer has no idea that his escape from the Rajah's was rigged, and his new companion a faithful servant of the ruler of Calcutta
