Plot Summary

Allen pereslushal Japanese story about spies in such a way that it turned out a detective Comedy about the kidnapping of a unique recipe for egg salad, which for a number of reasons may give the independence of a small Asian country.

This movie is the same "Key of all keys" (1965), only with new dialogue from woody Allen.

Two Japanese girls-spy in the movie (Akiko Wakabayashi and mie Hama) also starred together in the film about James bond "you only Live twice" (1967).

Woody Allen and a group of his friends did only 60 minutes of the film dialogues. Additional 19 minutes were recorded by actor imitating Allen. Plus they used footage of the band The Lovin’ Spoonful. These additions were made without the consent of Allen.

The plot of the original Japanese film is about the search for a secret microfilm, but not about the recipe of egg salad.

Adding keyframes with The Lovin’ Spoonful was the decision of the Studio, in order to increase the duration of the movie. Woody Allen was very indignant at this and even threatened to sue the Studio, but later, when the film was an unexpected success, he changed his mind.

Studio American International Pictures bought the Japanese film "Key of keys" (1965) for 66 000$. However, the Studio quickly realized that it was too confusing for a Western audience. The President of the Studio of Henry George. Saperstein made a proposal to turn the original Thriller Comedy, voicing it in a new way. And as at that time were unexpectedly successful film based on a script woody Allen's "What's new, Pussycat?" (1965), Saperstein hired him for the job.

The world premiere of this film took place at the Campus Theatre in East Lansing, Michigan.

In 1969, the Studio, American International Pictures reissued this film along with the movie "Three in the attic" (1968).
