Plot Summary

A young childless couple, rosemary and guy Woodhouse move to new York Bramford. Very soon they meet with eccentric neighbors, Minnie and Roman Castevet, who imposed them to friends. One day, she sees a strange vision, as if she's floating on a yacht with a guy who turns into a demon and rapes her. A few days later the girl learns that she is pregnant. A series of strange events leads rosemary to guess that their neighbors — satanic cult members

The film is based on the novel by Ira Levin of "rosemary's Baby" (Rosemary's Baby, 1967).

Film set Roman Polanski, whose pregnant wife Sharon Tate was murdered in 1969 by a gang of Charles Manson, who called the series of his crimes in honor of the band's songs "Beatles" "Helter Skelter". It is noteworthy that one of the members of the band, John Lennon was murdered in 1980 near the house, "Dakota" where he lived and where he was shooting "rosemary's Baby".

Residential building "Dakota", located in Manhattan, the film is called "Bramford".

During the filming of actress MIA Farrow had split from her then-husband Frank Sinatra.

Initially the movie was offered to Alfred Hitchcock.

Film editor Sam O Steen was later removed as Director of its television sequel, "What happened to rosemary's baby" (1976).

Sharon Tate starred in the stage party, which rosemary gave to his friends.

Working on his first film Polanski was trying to carefully follow all the details described in the novel. Once he even asked the author of the book Ira Levin, in what issue of the magazine "New Yorker" guy Woodhouse saw the shirt he wanted to buy. Levin admitted that it was pure fiction.

The film rights belonged to the producer and Director William castle. When the Studio "Paramount" just started the project, she put in front of the Castle on one condition – not to undertake the directing of the story, as he had a reputation as a producer of low-budget horror films. In this castle allowed to appear in the episode-cameo (he played a man standing at a phone booth).

This film became the first American staging of Polanski.

Polanski originally planned for the role of rosemary, the actress of Tuesdy weld, and the guy's role — Robert Redford. Studio "Paramount" decided that rosemary should play MIA Farrow and Redford was at that time busy with another project. Some time in the role of guy was considered the candidacy of Jack Nicholson.

In one scene MIA Farrow did eat in the frame raw liver.

According to Kenneth Anderson, author of the book about the making of "rosemary's Baby", the famous actress Lauren Bacall, who lived in the "Dakota", often out on the street to watch the filming along with the other tenants.

Rosemary must give birth 28 June 1966 (6/66).

Rosemary turns to Dinofrio Terry (Angela Dorian) with the words: "I thought you actress Victoria Vetri". This, Terry says that everyone thinks so, but she finds similarities to her. Victoria Vetri — real name Angela Dorian.
