The film is based on the story of Alexander Borschagovsky "Three poplars on Shabolovka".
Initially the film was to be called as a story, "Three poplars on Shabolovka". However, in the late 60s the word "street" is already firmly associated with the TV, and it could interfere with the perception of the film spectator. Because in the picture about the TV not a word.
The film was actually shot at Plyushchikha, in this apartment, the owners of which had succumbed to her crew, having moved out to the country. The scene in the car in a specially ordered cars on diesel traction. Village scene the pavilion, was shot in the winter.
The role of the taxi driver Sasha auditioned Nikolai Rybnikov.
In March 2011, on DVD and Blu-Ray came out the colour version of the film.
At the time of the shooting of the episode, in which Nura disguised, it became clear that Doronin had forgotten a bra, leading to the controversial episode with film Director Tatyana Lioznova: "Let it be clear to the whole world what she wanted and will get, I have nothing to lose". In the end, Doronin was shot without a bra.
The car "Volga" GAZ-21 on which the film traveled to Moscow Doronin and Efremov, belonged to the "Mosfilm". The same car under different license plates starred in the films "Beware of the car" (1966), "the diamond arm" (1968) and "poisons or the world history of poisoning" (2001). Now this machine can be seen in the Museum of Mosfilm cinema concern.
