Vasily Alibabaevich first had to play Frunzik Mkrtchyan, and Radner Muratov auditioned for the role of the warden. The film was released on 13 December 1971, and already 14-th of speculators in the early morning buying up all the tickets for "Gentlemen of fortune" and sold them for 3 rubles, despite the fact that the cashier they were worth 20 cents.

The role of Vasiliy Alibabaevich also auditioned Vladimir Etush and Ilya Rutberg.

Almost all the major actors refused to participate in the film before was approved the treatment. Each with his reason.
