Jeremiah Johnson decides to leave the plains and go to the mountains, where it lies in wait for starvation and threats from the grizzly and the Indians. He seeks to completely merge with nature, in opposition to the so-called "civilized man". Over time, he completely mastered in the wild, unfriendly Indians and trappers.
