Plot Summary

The film is about the famous Australian outlaw Daniel Morgan, who in the last century in the province of Victoria. His head was promised a reward. But noble robber enjoyed the sympathy of the local population, making it elusive. Even the death of Morgan has become a challenge to the authorities.

The plot was taken book Margaret Carnegie, Morgan, the result of twelve years of research.

Director Philippe Mora had written the script in 1974, during a sea voyage from London to Melbourne. The script was submitted to Australian Korporaciyu the Development of Cinema, which in early 1975 had agreed to support the project.

To search for a candidate for the lead role, Mora and producer Jeremy Thomas flew to Los Angeles. The first candidate Stacy Keach declined the role

The film was shot at various locations, which operated Daniel Morgan, in the Eastern Riverina, including Billabong Creek, Kaltern and Jindera. The film was used the cave, which actually was hiding Morgan.

Shooting started on 27 October 1975 and lasted for six weeks until December 6, was just 36 shooting days. Due to rain that lasted the entire first week of shooting had to be postponed, but then it was decided to continue to keep up with the schedule.

Maura shot a scene in which a young Ned Kelly looks at a wax figure of Morgan, but decided not to include it in the movie.
