Plot Summary
Did You Know?
After the release of the film "Dark star" (1974), a group of investors gave John carpenter a carte Blanche for the production of any film, but the budget picture was not supposed to exceed a certain amount. Despite the fact that carpenter wanted to make a Western, he knew that he did not have the necessary financial resources for the implementation staging. So he made "Assault on 13 precinct" as a stylized modern Western, which to some extent can be called a remake of "Rio Bravo" (1959).
The film is the siege not the thirteenth, and the ninth police station.
John carpenter played one of the many bandits attempting to enter the police station through the Windows.
The new address of the police station 1977 Ellendale place (which you can see on a wooden sign in front of the plot) is exactly the same as existing address on which lived John carpenter when he arrived in Los Angeles.
The character of Darwin Dzhoston, Napoleon Wilson, is partly based on the character of Charles Bronson in the film "Once in the West" (1968).
The Commission's ratings are intended to give the film a rating of "X" if the pattern will not cut the scene with the ice cream truck. The distributor has advised John carpenter to present to the "MPAA" version with the deleted scene, in order to obtain a rating of "R", but rental to produce nedorezannye version. The trick worked.
According to John carpenter, the music for the film was written under the impression of the compositions of Lalo Schifrin for "Dirty Harry" (1971) and songs of Led Zeppelin "Immigrant Song".
The story of Ethan Bishop (Austin Stoker), about how his father sent him at the age of six to the police station with a note really happened with Alfred Hitchcock. You can read about it in the book Francois Truffaut's "Hitchcock".
Production period is 20 days.
The number of dead in the film 59.
