Plot Summary
Did You Know?
The first serious dramatic film by woody Allen, who was always known for his comedies and simply wanted to break the usual frame, removing the film without a drop of humor. The film is the only time when the family gathers around the table, laughing at a joke you just told Arthur, but shots where he tells this joke in the film.
This is the first woody Allen film in which he appeared as an actor.
The character Eve (the mother) was coined by woody Allen specifically for Ingrid Bergman. He offered her a role but she refused because already signed a contract to take in Ingmar Bergman's "Autumn Sonata" (1978), which took place in Norway. The role eventually departed Geraldine page, and then they were both nominated for their roles in these films for the award "Oscar" and "Golden globe". Both lost to Jane Fonda (who received the award for his role in the film "coming home," 1978).
Offered Diane Keaton, woody Allen the film's title, which he eventually used.
This film was inspired by Swedish Director Ingmar Bergman.
This film was the last for Joel Schumacher as a costume designer.
