Le Voyage dans la lune

A greatly shortened version of "Journey to the moon" was included as a kind of "Preface" in the famous movie from Michael Anderson's "Around the world in 80 days" (1956).

Until recently, the film was known without the final fragment (the solemn meeting travelers), which was considered lost. However, in 2002, in France, accidentally discovered a complete copy of the film, which not only included this piece, but were also painted by hand. This copy was restored and shown in Pordenona festival of silent films in 2003.

In 1993, an anonymous collector has donated a film library of Catalonia in Barcelona considered irretrievably lost color version of the film. However, the film was in extremely pitiful condition. A long process of recovery of the film was completed in 2011. A "second premiere" of the film took place at the 64th Cannes film festival.

Preserved a remake of this film, set in 1908, Segundo de Somona called "Trip to the moon" (FR. Excursion dans la lune).

The plot of the film was used in the video for the song Tonight Tonight musical group Smashing Pumpkins, and "Heaven For Everyone" by the band Queen.

In 2011 he released the Martin Scorsese film "Hugo", the plot of which is interwoven with the biography of Georges méliès and his film "Journey to the moon."

In 2012, the French Duo Air, inspired by the movie "journey to the moon", released the album "Le Voyage dans la Lune", the cover of which represents the most famous illustration of this picture.

"Journey to the moon" parodies the plots of the novels of Jules Verne, "From guns to the moon" and H. G. wells "the First men in the moon".
