A man, John Vanderhout, pursues Imgard Vanderjagt, the widow of his brother George Vanderhyde, author of the fundamental work on the theory of free love, which in the past, in his opinion, had crippled his life. Hiding from him, she goes to the mountains, but even there he does not stop to chase her. In the mountains, in the old hut, the hermit, she finds out George, who is not dead, but faked his own death.
