Anna Moore goes from small new England villages to rich relatives in Boston. There she meets a handsome young man named Sanderson, who takes possession of it by organizing a fake wedding. After that, he sends her back to New England, forbidding to talk about marriage. Anna learns that she is pregnant, notify the Sanders and learns the truth. Anne's mother and her baby die. Anna manages to get a job on a nearby farm, the landowner Bartlet, near where she lives and her seducer. On the farm, Anna meets David, the son of the landlord, and they fall in love.
