According to the original plan of the founders, the cemetery scene of the film was planned to shoot on a real Jewish cemetery, however, the Jewish community has banned the filming. Then Paul Wegener with the artist by Hans Pelzigen and cameraman Karl Freund was styled the real forest and the cemetery, which gave the scenes the combined effect of reality and artificiality.

The calculation was made on the imagination of the viewer and the illusion. Scene recovery has been implemented by simply replacing the object on a live actor. For this Steinruck albert, who played the Rabbi, was required to portray the awkwardness when reading the parchment to such an extent that it seemed that he was about to drop it. At this moment, when the viewer's gaze was fixed on the actor's face, the object was replaced by a live actor, Paul Wegener.
