In the role of the legless Blizzard LON Chaney starred with closely premenovanie feet and put on his knees with special devices, which created the overall impression that he has no legs below the knees, but caused him serious pain. Due to pinched arteries, these devices had to be removed not less than once in 10 minutes.
The first release of the movie ended in an additional episode in which LON Chaney was coming down the stairs on his own feet. The episode was added to give the audience to understand what Blizzard was played by an actor who has everything in order with the legs. When you re-release the screen of this episode was removed. However, in the film there are two small episode, when Blizzard telling accomplices plan the robbery and, apparently dreamily, involuntarily presents itself on two legs strongly leading the immigrants, he stands before the Arsenal and on the steps of the Treasury. The Lieutenant jumps up, saying, "You speak as a person who can walk! You guys are nuts!". What Blizzard, leaping rashkovskii, says: "Perhaps but there is no madness without success."
