Plot Summary

The action takes place in Monte Carlo. The main character is a white Russian, an adventurer posing as count Karamzin, with two friends, allegedly the Duchess, whom he gives for his cousins, lives in a luxury Villa and exploring different ways of making money: playing in a casino, using the position in society, sells counterfeit banknotes

It is known that Stroheim ordered print fake French money. Unfortunately, the bill was so similar to the real thing that Stroheim was arrested for counterfeiting, and on 14 July 1920 he had to appear before the court. He said that the money was intended for use exclusively in film, and in the end let him go.
