The film's protagonist, small-time grocer by the name of Cranebill, gets into trouble. The illiterate and downtrodden, he was in prison. After serving his term, Cranebill was released. But buyers are now turning away from him as a prisoner. Cranebill deprived of earnings. Sincerity and humanity shown to him homeless boy named Mouse, raises Krenkelja the belief that the world is not without kind people.
