Nicholas Harmon, a very rich patron of music, who loved weaknesses and his favorite weakness was Nina, his mistress, the Opera singer, whose voice wavered. His stepson don, conductor of the orchestra, rejects the attentions of public girls. Don helps the career of Anna, a newly arrived singer from Russia who becomes a nightclub star, the "Midnight Girl".
