The Scarlet Letter

This is a story of forbidden love and the sensual passion in America XVII century beauty Hester and the Reverend Arthur. Against the lovers stand strong Puritan customs and especially the fact that Hester "de jure" married, though, and believes her husband died on the way to the colony. When her extramarital relationships are revealed, Hester refuses to betray her lover and render the verdict — forever to wear on the breast a scarlet letter "A" — the stigma of adultery.
