Plot Summary
Did You Know?
The film is based on a novel by John Steinbeck.
Pictures of Alfred Hitchcock used for his cameo appearance, the real. The fact that at the time Hitchcock really was sitting on a severe diet (though he used not fictional Reduco, and another means to reduce weight) and rounded up weight from 130 to 90 kg. Hitchcock said, "the Fat man just showered me with letters, wanting to know how you can acquire a precious medicine".
Alfred Hitchcock invited Ben Hekta to rework the final part of the scenario.
During the filming some of the crew blamed Tallow Bankhead because she doesn't wear underwear this was especially noticeable during scenes when the actress jumped over the side of the boat. When Hitchcock said this, he wryly remarked: "I don't even know who to punish dresser or hairdresser".
As a result of long stay in cold water most of the performers in this film came down with pneumonia.
After Tallulah Bankhead caught pneumonia, Alfred Hitchcock gave the actress a little puppy. This gift, according to the Director, was to impart optimism and self-confidence. Ironically, the puppy has already had a nickname "Hitchcock"!
Based on the film was released role-playing card game "Lifeboat", published in Russian with the title "overboard!".
